Mr. Sasamori stated Rengo's views on the current economic situation and submitted counterproposals of revising the budget bill based on the institutionalisation of income tax cuts, solving lending squeeze by banks, amending the Financial Structure Reform Law. |
Resolutions of 8,500 unions concerning the revision of the Labour Standards Law submitted to the Speakers of the both Houses (10 April 1998) |
President Washio and other Rengo's representatives visited the Speakers of both Houses of the Diet on 3 April 1998 and submitted resolutions of 8,500 unions concerning the revision of Labour Standards Law. He pointed out problems that might adversely affect workers' rights and working conditions and asked the Speakers to proceed with the deliberation carefully. |
Treasury share of the employment insurance should be as before (10 April 1998) |
The bill for the revision of Employment Insurance Law was passed at the plenary session of the House of Councillors on 31 March 1998. On the same day, Rengo published its General Secretary's comment that the bill was valuable in terms that it proposed the creation of a new provision such as one for human resource development and nursing leaves. However, he insisted that Treasury's share should not have been reduced and Rengo would request the Government to put it back as it was before. |
