RENGO held 98 National Safety Network Conference with the theme "Future Safety and Health Working at small-medium scale enterprises in 27 and 28 July 1998. 102 union leaders from 24 RENGO affiliates and 34 local RENGOs participated in the conference. Problems at small-medium scale enterprises and the theme of the ILO World Conference on Labor Safety and Health scheduled in 1999 in Brazil were discussed. The conference was held as integrated one of previous National Conference on Safety and Health Measures and Health and Safety Symposiums. At the opening, the General Secretary Mr. Sasamori appealed that working place was unsafe now and we had to keep a sense of crisis. Further he noted, "industrial accidents are increasing in number in the working places of small-medium scale enterprises and without trade unions. Strengthening safety and health in labor is the most basic function of trade unions and building up the measure including unorganized workers is the task of RENGO. We would like to put the needs together into the RENGO's policy proposal." |
