| The Action Committee for the Elimination of Child Exploitation (ACE) conducted the demonstration walk in Shibuya, Tokyo on 5 May. Stopping child labor and providing education instead were requested. RENGO joined and supported this March. |
| RENGO Met Prime Minister toward Summit (22 May 1998) |
| The government-union meeting toward the G8 Birmingham Summit was held at the Prime Minister's official residence on 7 May. Mr. Hashimoto, Prime Minister, and Mr. Ibuki, Minister for Labour, from the government and Mr. Washio, RENGO President, and Mr. Enomoto, Vice-president of RENGO, had attended. At the meeting, they reviewed the meeting between the representatives of trade unions of G8 countries and the British Prime Minister, Mr. Blair who hosted the Summit, and exchanged their opinions. |
