 On
October 29 and 30, RENGO held the "Central Debate on Spring Struggle
'99" at a hotel in Atami where 660 participants actively debated
over "Basic Plan for Spring Struggle '99." Based the results
of this debate, RENGO will propose its "Spring Struggle Policy '99"
at the 29th Central Committee Meeting on November 17. |
On
November 2, RENGO held a symposium at its headquarters on "Food,
Agriculture, and Rural Community, Japan '98" in an effort to better
understand the ideas of its various group affiliates. This was in response
to a study conducted last September by the Inquiry Board investigating
basic food, agriculture and rural community problems. 250 people attended
the symposium, on the assumption that the Basic Agriculture Law would
be reformed for the first time in 37 years.
