RENGO explained to the DPJ its view on the bill to revise the Fundamental Law of Education

On 23 May, RENGO explained to the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) its view on the bill to amend the Fundamental Law of Education prior to deliberation of the Special Committee of the Lower House. The DPJ was represented in the meeting by 15 lawmakers, including Mr. Akihiro Ohata and Mr. Yoshio Maki, board members of the Lower House Special Committee on the Fundamental Law on Education, Supreme Advisor Mr. Hata, and Policy Research Committee chair Mr. Matsumoto.

RENGO Assistant General Secretary Mr. Ohmi illustrated RENGO’s view of the revision bill, as well as of the report made by its Investigation Committee on Fundamental issues on Education in June 2004, followed by exchanging views on the DPJ’ s own bill to revise the Fundamental Law of Education as well as on the Government bill.
