RENGO extends grant aid from its Fraternal Fund-Raising Campaign to Indonesia

05 June 2006
The damage of a large-scale earthquake disaster in Central Java on 27 May has been being bigger and resulted in 6,000 fatalities and 46,000 injured as of 1 June. The Government of Republic of Indonesia called for emergency aids, due to difficulties in rescue of victims and the lack of medicinal supplies. To respond to such request, RENGO decided in the 29 May Standing Executive Directors’ Meeting that its “Fraternal Fund-Raising Campaign” would extend emergency grant aid totaling US$10,000 to Indonesian Trade Union Congress(ITUC) through International Confederation of Free Trade Unions – Asian and Pacific Regional Organization (ICFTU-APRO), as reported in its Central Committee on 1 June.

The “Fraternal Fund-Raising Campaign” does not only extend grant aid to NPOs and NGOs, but also provides supports and aids for those damaged in natural disasters.
